Regina is eighteen, and the older woman already knows almost everything there is to know about her. It both worries and infuriates her, because River tells her nothing – “Spoilers” – and though she tries to hide it, Regina often sees sadness in her eyes. When they eventually part ways (because Cora doesn’t approve, and River wishes she could make that wretched woman disappear) River gives her a sad smile and squeezes her hand. “You could be wonderful, you know.” Regina almost believes her. They meet in the right order one time only, in another world.
